Fiddle Schools Tunes - Suggest that you learn the first 8
The purpose of posting these tunes was to give new Fiddle School participants some easy tunes to learn so that they at least would be able to play something during jam sessions. In theory it is a good idea, in practice it hasn't worked very well. They still remain as nice tunes to learn but there is no guarantee that they will be played at Fiddle School jams. Jam sessions, by definition, are spontaneous. However we will still try to find a way to compile a set of tunes that can be considered "common tunes" that everyone can play to provide some minimal structure to the jam sessions.

Hast Schottis can also be found on the Fiddle Club Of The World - Chicago Chapter web site at: http://drdosido.net/fiddleclub/category/tunes/ scroll down near the bottom of the page and you will also find a nice waltz by a Norwegian fiddle/guitar player Vidar Skrede called:
Vidar's Vals, on his CD he just calls it Vals. The notes for this tune can be found on thesession.org web site, scroll down to the 3rd setting. Here is a recording of the waltz by the band Skolkis (Martha Levenson).
(Vidar was at the Niswswa Stamman a few years ago with his trio Geitungen and back in Northern Wisconsin a couple of times since. I don't know if they are playing together any longer, probably not, but they have two recordings that I know of that I highly recommend if you are interested in Norwegian music.)
Besova a Swedish tune. An mp3 and a pdf can be found at:
